More than a gardening technique, co-creation is a way of life. We begin with the awareness of the spirit in all things, from plants, stones, clouds, water, etc. Every plant is an intelligent being, each with its own unique qualities and purpose...
By connecting with the plant spirits, establishing permission, and trusting the process, these unique qualities are brought forth in the essences and remedies produced.
In his book, Coyote Medicine, Louis Mehl-Madrona relays what the Lakota elders tell us about co-creation. They say that when humans take action and create from a space of
honoring all of creation, allowing input and participation from the spirit world and all beings that will be affected, our creations are in harmony with the whole. They bring only positive results. When humans try to short cut the process and act from personal will, the resulting creation is out of harmony with the whole and creates only more problems. Co-creation seems like the long road. It takes extra time and patience, just like working with a committee that operates through group consensus. However, because it honors the cycles of life, all beings, and the great mystery, the resulting creations are harmonious, healing and life enhancing.
An example: One year I had an idea to harvest the roses in the garden. I connected with the plant spirits and asked questions about when to harvest and how to process them. The spirits advised me to use a small amount of grain alcohol with pure spring water and rose petals. I placed them in a dark place and shook the bottles every two or three days. At the end of a two month period, I had the freshest and sweetest rose water that I had ever experienced! It was lovely, and I sold my supply very quickly since everyone who smelled it just had to have some.
The following year I waited patiently to experience more of the divine rose water. I assumed I would be able to make the rose water again, with a similar result. I went out into the garden with my pendulum and connected with the plant spirit. This time I could not get permission to harvest any roses at all! I asked as many questions as I could think of, about timing and possibly harvesting less, etc. but I could not receive permission to make the rose water. I went back to my studio, trying to figure out why.
A week later, I was out in the garden feeding plants, when I noticed the roses blooming. I couldn’t stop myself! I went ahead and picked just a few of those vibrant roses, adding the alcohol and water just as I had before. Inside, I felt that at the very least, this would be a valuable learning experience. This time I acted purely from my personal will, ignoring what the rose spirit had told me. I really wanted that rose water!
When the time came to open the bottle and strain out the rose petals, I had to laugh. The aroma from the rose water was very weak, almost vinegar like. Definitely not the divine aroma of the year before. This truly turned out to be the best experiment, because I got to see the differences between co-creation and personality-level creation. Not only was the final result less beautiful, but more importantly, the feeling I had about the process was different. The co-creative rose water process of the first year felt vibrant, exciting, like I was a part of something beautiful. The second year, I felt a little separate, a little less radiant. It was a subtle difference, but very significant.
I learned in this way the most valuable lessons about honoring the cycles of life. Over the years, we have found that most plant species will experience vibrant growing conditions only once or twice every few years. There will often be years where conditions are okay, but not excellent. I now know that when I listen to the plant spirit’s guidance and honor the cycles, harvesting only in the years where conditions are prime, all the products and remedies produced will be of exquisite quality and filled with vibrant life force. And the harmony, beauty, and balance that are created within our ecosystem and our lives are more valuable than we can know.

There are many different ways to communicate with the nature spirits. At first, Michael and Kathryn set a clear intention that when they were in the garden at DiamondHeart, they would be open to receive the spirit communications as thoughts and intuitive awareness...
This implies slowing down to receive and process intuitive information.
Often there are questions that may have specific answers: When is the best time to harvest, where to plant, how much fertilizer to use, etc. For this type of communication Kathryn found it most efficient to use a tool, such as pendulum dowsing or kinesiology. This makes it easy to receive clear yes or no answers.
As time passes and the relationship between humans and spirits grows stronger, many people are able to connect their consciousness directly
with the nature spirits and hear their communications as clearly as if they are talking aloud. This is one of the ways that large segments of information, such as healing with flower essences, can be transmitted.
It is important to realize that every person is an individual and may have a different way of connecting with spirit. Some receive information in dreams, through meditation, or shamanic journeying. Some connect directly through only one guide, archangel, or ascended master. Others are able to connect with individual plant, soil, animal, weather, and diverse types of spirits. Some receive information best in a visual form, some a kinesthetic form, and others an audial form. Some receive whole concepts at once which they just “know”. Others receive bits of information at a time, which gradually evolve into pieces of a giant puzzle.
The important thing is to realize that we are all different and to honor our own personal way of connecting. When we acknowledge even small connections with the spirit world, our gratitude creates a positive field around us which draws more positive experience. This becomes the gateway to greater multi-dimensional awareness and communication.

Through communications with the nature spirits and assistance from many human participants, our purpose was initiated in 1995 to create an interactive garden that would bring healing for our community (human and planetary)...
The MerKaBa medicine wheel was activated at that time to anchor and hold our intention.
As our relationship with the spirits of the land grew stronger, the group intention was gradually being revealed. In 1999 we began to use the Dreamspell calendar, based on the ancient Mayan calendar. We found the natural rhythms of this 13- moon calendar to be in greater harmony with the earth’s natural environment than our current calendar. Through this doorway, new awareness became available. The spirits could achieve a new level of participation as we (Michael and Kathryn) became more in sync with the planetary intention.
Michael’s main purpose evolved into an ever stronger focus on the creation of beauty, while Kathryn moved more into the production of plant remedies and flower essences for healing.
In the year 2002, we placed four crystals at the corners of the property for Beauty, Healing, Co-creation, and adding the intention of Remembrance. After 8 seasons of co-creation, the four cornerstones of our foundation are now in place.

Our planet is going through a major shift in consciousness at this time...
Many ancient cultures and indigenous peoples have foreseen this time as a great opportunity for change.
For several thousand years, we have been living in the age of Pisces. During the Piscean age, our relationship with nature reflected the consciousness of the time. We experienced nature through the lens of a parent/child relationship. First, nature was seen as an all-powerful force that could take care of our every need, and must be worshiped or appeased. Later, nature was perceived as an unintelligent wild force that must be subdued or controlled. During the later stages as our civilizations developed, these roles led to a battle consciousness as we worked to subdue and overcome nature. You can read more about this in Machelle Small-Wright’s Perelandra Workbook.
All of this was in perfect order, part of the learning process of the Piscean age. The effects of holding on to this consciousness beyond its time, however, are devastating the environment of our planet.
Now we are moving into the age of Aquarius, and the old parent/child relationship we developed with nature is no longer in sync. The Aquarian impulses will lead us to develop an equal, conscious partnership with nature. Our decisions will broaden to include the input of the nature spirits and Devas, working as a team to accomplish our mutual goals.
The planetary energy of this time actually supports this shift into the new dynamic. A new wave of co-operation and support is bringing healing and balance to our planet in a way that was not possible during the consciousness of the previous age. Our co-creative gardens are the energy centers that release this intention into the world and initiate our new reality.

In the process of walking my own healing path, and participating with many healers, masters, and persons on healing paths, I have identified three initial stages that one passes through...
Healing, regeneration, and ascension
I will do my best to describe these stages clearly for all who read this. It is my hope that this will shed light on your own process of healing for you, and that you will find it helpful in some way.
It is important to realize that the path of healing is as unique as every individual. Not everyone will experience the same things at the same stage. These are only general guidelines and should be received in that light.
We must also be aware that there are other ascension paths. The path I am describing is one that leads to the mergence of spiritual and physical realities. Many ascension paths, particularly those developed during a time of great density on our earth, do not lead to the physical/spiritual mergence. Instead, they involve a gradual purification of the mental and emotional bodies. This results in a shift of consciousness through the purified higher bodies into the spiritual realm. In those forms of ascension, the physical body is left behind at a certain stage.
It is also important to remember that these stages are not linear. Some people will experience clearly demarcated stages that happen in a sequential order. But many will experience fuzzy periods that seem to bounce between one, two, or even three stages. They may not be clearly defined and they may not follow a rational order.
Please make an intention to honor and appreciate your own natural process. It is unique, mysterious, and beautiful, just like you. And not having all the answers ahead of time is part of the journey that creates the potential for an exciting and enjoyable life.
Healing-the first stage
The first stage of the healing process begins the moment we commit to a decision to create positive change. This often begins when a person learns that they have an advanced dis-ease or condition, or receives some sort of physical warning sign from the body. Although one can simply make the decision to heal or regenerate, we often do not until things reach a certain level of crisis.
In this stage, we are healing the physical body of addictions, pain, dis-ease, karmic patterns, and toxic cellular accumulation.
The primary focus during this stage: Physical detoxification. Physical, emotional, and energetic release and rebalancing; clearing karmic and constitutional energy patterns.
Typical conditions experienced during this stage: The physical body may present a pattern of dis-ease, injury, or depletion. Body tissues are overloaded with toxic accumulation. Muscle tissue may be hard and very tense or lacking tone. Sensations in the body include numbness and lack of sensation, or pain, soreness and stiffness.
During this stage, time often stands still. It may feel like it takes forever to see any progress. You may feel like giving up, or like you aren’t making any progress. You may feel that things are getting worse instead of better, especially if you begin to have more symptoms as the physical detoxification process kicks in.
If you have been diagnosed with any chronic diseases or have organ degeneration, severe injuries, mental or emotional disorders, addiction to substances, compromised immunity, chronic pain, obesity, or any physical condition that compromises your ability to feel happy and vibrantly healthy, AND you have made a commitment to yourself to heal this condition, then you are in the healing stage.
Regeneration-the second stage
The next stage of the healing process occurs when we have reached a certain level of commitment to our own healing process. This a very broad stage where symptoms may still be present or may come and go, but typically they will be fewer and farther apart. We now recognize symptoms as a good thing, knowing that they are releasing something from the body that needs to be released, or calling our attention to old patterns and habits that are not working for us.
In this stage, we are beginning to build the new physical body according to the blueprint of perfection inherent in our DNA.
The primary focus during this stage: Activating new physical, emotional, and energetic patterns. Fine-tuning the energy body. Rebuilding the physical structure and raising the frequency of the physical body. Physical detoxification now moves to a maintenance level, using herbal cleansing processes to clear toxicity and keep it from accumulating.
Typical conditions experienced during this stage: Cleansing symptoms now appear less often and disappear rapidly. The body’s processes are faster and easier. Body tissues are in a stage of regeneration. Muscle tissue is softer, more flexible, and less dense. Sensations in the body include intermittent pain, the feeling of energy moving, ecstasy, or electrical and vibrational sensations. Aromas and flavors become stronger and more exciting. All the senses may improve or become more sensitive.
During this stage, everything begins to speed up. It feels like you are making progress. You may feel hopeful, happy, moments of ecstasy and expanded awareness. You are now choosing consistently for your health. You may be aware of aspects of the light body. You may have a developing awareness of inner guidance that did not seem real to you before. Time flows seem to speed up and slow down. You may be experiencing longer and more frequent periods of pure synchronicity where amazing “co-incidences” and unexpected auspicious events occur.
Ascension-the third stage
The third stage of the healing process occurs when we have reached a permanent state of refined balance and self-awareness. In this stage of our development, our personal path of service is clear. Our consciousness is moving into the experience of unity.
In this stage, we are beginning to experience the physical body and the light body as one. We are awakening and connecting through our cosmic memory. We experience the self as one with all life everywhere. We move freely between the universal source and our personal energies and remain conscious through all dimensions.
The primary focus during this stage: Merging the activated light body with the physical body. Raising and harmonizing the physical body frequency to the point of mergence.
Typical conditions experienced during this stage: The physical body is free of pain, yet highly sensitive and alive. Ecstasy is a common cellular sensation. The light body is experienced as one with the physical body. Guidance is experienced as a constant or near-constant source connection. The choice for health has now become automatic-the vibration is now part of your being. We experience conscious co-creation.
During this stage, we come to master the time flow. We experience being in a natural flow with seemingly miraculous, synchronistic events occurring consistently. Our time reality has shifted to a new perspective. We trust the divine timing and our own connection to source.

This is the 5-step process I used to complete the 4th Initiation of the Egyptian Ascension Path...
Indigenous peoples often refer to this as “creating right relationship”. By getting off the Wheel of Kharma and creating right relationship, one is no longer bound to involuntary reincarnation. This means that reincarnation is now voluntary, and one may return fully conscious into the physical form as desired.
What is a kharmic exchange? You are in a kharmic exchange any time you find yourself:
-arguing
-blaming
-fighting
-trying to control or impose your will on another person
-exchanging insults
-initiating physical touch when feeling emotionally charged
-receiving non-beneficial intentions, energy or actions from others
-involved in any type of communication, including thinking, that is not loving
and could create a non-beneficial response in the other person.
STEP 1-INTENTION
State your intention to no longer engage in arguments or kharmic exchange with the people around you. Talk with them about what you intend to do when you discover that you are in a kharmic exchange and ask for their support in making this change. Most people do not enjoy kharmic exchange, and will support you when they understand what you are doing and how to assist. Make new agreements not to argue, no matter what with yourself and the ones with whom you consistently engage.
STEP 2-DISENGAGE
As soon as you catch yourself participating in a kharmic exchange, disengage. Go physically to another space away from the other participant(s). Do not communicate anything while you are still in a charged state. Do not touch anyone while you feel charged, even if you think you need to! Touching someone while you have a charge will always create a kharmic exchange.
If your partner discovers the kharmic exchange and chooses to disengage first, honor their space no matter what. The icky feeling that comes back to you when the other disengages is NOT an attack-it is the feeling of your own energy returning to you. Just accept your feelings in the moment and stop communicating. This is a way of changing the way you use energy. It is not comfortable through the initial change process, but will result in great freedom and well-being.
STEP 3-RECLAIM YOUR POWER
When you have disengaged and are in your own space, notice the story that your mind is playing about the incident.
-In this story, are you the victim?
-Are you the righteous one who deserves better?
-Are you the one who has been betrayed?
-Are you trying to control the outcome, protect, or save the other person?
Stop feeding the victim archetype by drawing the “blaming” energy back into your blue circle* and changing it to acceptance. Ask your higher power, guides, or spirit helpers to help you see how you created this experience. Find your role by checking in with your energy and intention-how you were feeling and what you were thinking-just before the kharmic exchange. Were you hungry? Distracted? Tired? Emotionally charged? Was there some feeling you failed to act on?
STEP 4-FORGIVENESS
Once you accept your role in creating the kharmic exchange, you can forgive and release the other player(s) and focus your attention on the area inside your blue circle*. Taking responsibility for creating your own experience, no matter what, is the key to regaining your power.
Transferring blame is the way you give your power away. Forgive yourself, too. Remember-you are a master in training. Every kharmic exchange you correct becomes a stone in your new foundation. According to the Egyptian ascension masters, even Ascended Masters are vulnerable to creating a kharmic exchange as long as they are in a physical body.
STEP 5-GRATITUDE
Express thanks to (or for) the ones who participated in the kharmic exchange with you. Imagine them feeling whole and serene. This is impossible to do while you are still blaming them-if you have a hard time, go back to step 3 and do it again.
If this person is someone you love, imagine the happiest moment you have ever shared with this person, and see the two of you together in harmony.
If it is a stranger or someone not close to you, imagine them walking happily on their life path and send a blessing for them on their journey. Author Carolyn Myss talks about this as a grace cushion, or “grace points”. It builds an energy field of high frequency around you that transmutes anything that is directed toward you that is not yours.
I have experienced this personally to the point of having a punch that was thrown at me glance off my energy field and slide into a refrigerator! Once you build this grace cushion around you with gratitude, it will be very easy for you to not take anything personally from others, even when they intend it as a personal barb. Your energy field will no longer have the victim receptacle to experience this energy.
Notes about stepping off the Wheel of Kharma:
The process of getting off the kharmic wheel involves shifting your center of consciousness from the mind into the heart. This requires trust in a different reality-one that you know about intellectually, maybe even believe in completely, but have not truly experienced. It requires courage to face the uncertainty of outcome that accompanies growth and change. And it requires faith and trust that the Universe is actually benevolent and loving- that “bad things” can not just happen to you randomly. It requires that you take responsibility for creating EVERY PART OF YOUR EXPERIENCE.
The mind knows that it will not be able to carry forward the illusion that everything is under control, or the comfort of the old role, into the new consciousness. It must now confront the truth that it does not have control over life, events, people, or relationships. Your new foundation must be built on the uncertainty of heart-based reality.
When one first emerges from the Wheel of Kharma, the people around him or her have an opportunity to shift their own relationships. If a close friend or partner is not ready to take this step, they will either make an agreement to find another outlet outside the relationship, or they will continue to test the resolve of the initiator and try to hook them back into a kharmic exchange. This is actually a gift which will create more opportunities for the initiator to affirm the commitment to self.
When one partner truly changes and another does not, the relationship will change its form. At this time we must cultivate our willingness to let go of the old form, images, and ideas of what it is supposed to be, and trust that a new and more authentic form will emerge.
*The blue circle referred to in the steps above is an actual circle on the floor, about 2 times the length of your foot in diameter, placed with blue masking tape. Michael and I encourage everyone who is doing this ascension work to make a blue circle and STEP INTO IT every day while you are going through the 4th level of Initiation.
Many blessings on your own 4th Initiation. This stage can be mastered in 3 months if you set your intention to do so and stay committed. Thank you for the work you are doing to create a peaceful and harmonious world!
